Johnny Bomber Clothing started in Detroit around 2012. We made a few shirts and had a few parties. For some kids in college it was a pretty successful venture. Nothing crazy, no magazine covers or piles of money. When college wrapped up and the real world came knocking, Johnny Bomber took a back seat while a career in advertising took me to Chicago.
But Johnny Bomber never truly went away. For years he lived as doodles in sketch books and over time, he developed a personality with a passion for beer, hot dogs, comics and music. And the excitement to share the new Johnny Bomber began.
A decade later as a fully realized character, Johnny Bomber is telling his story through comics and animation inspired by a bygone era of when comics were printed on cheap newsprint and AI “art” didn’t infiltrate every corner of our lives. Johnny Bomber was brought to life by human hands—the illustration, the animation, the videography and photography all done by ourselves with a little help from the public domain.
This is just the start of the new Johnny Bomber and we can’t wait to share what comes next.
